bring it

i admit i feel some pressure for some type of disclaimer- something like, "i don't typically use my blog for political reasons," or "i'm not trying to make a political endorsement by posting this video," but in reality i'm doing all of the above and really, i'm pretty okay with it. yet i will say in my defense, i'm not crazy about some of the language, and if you are sensitive to politics or cussing this may not be the video for you. otherwise, listen and laugh.

tina fey weekend update

and now my rant will commence. first things first. tina fey is amazing. i've been a fan since the early days at SNL- not like, "i liked that band before they got big" kind of fan- but really truly she's sort of my idol and has been for awhile. things i admire- 1- she's a funny lady, and she's not slightly manly, or a lesbian. 2- she crossed over from writing to acting with such ease and finesse. i've always said it truly would be my dream job to be a writer for SNL. growing up i remember staying up late saturday nights to watch the likes of will ferrell, molly shannon, cheri oteri, jimmy fallon and then later tina fey. i always loved molly shannon as a funny lady, but when tina fey came along i knew that she truly was the one. after SNL she ventured into 30 rock- which really, there are no words for its comedic genius. the lady has it all. not to mention we might be related (by marriage) -her husbands last name is richmond.
so when she guest hosted a couple weeks back i knew it would be good, but then to hear this skit- really i couldn't have expressed my sentiments better. i know a lot of you won't like this- but i'd been feeling that way about the obama buzz for some time- i mean really, come on ladies are we all such oprah drones? ---all the while a little glimmer of interest was blossoming for ol hillary. its crazy cause seriously up until a month ago- i really thought she was the devil- call it my anti-social behavior rising up, or perhaps my latina roots (they love the clintons) whatever it is she's growing on me and i just can't join the obama camp. so there it is... i'm out with it much to the chagrin of my husband and the rest of the christian community - yet i feel liberated to say it... cause i believe it. bitches get stuff done!
so as to whether she'll make it long enough to get my vote in novemeber remains unknown- in all honesty its looking a lot like nader for this cowgirl..
so bring it on people. i want to hear what you got.

wait, are you listening to the dixie chicks right now? well, the video is no longer available for viewing due to some copyright violation. if i understand you correctly, there is a percentage chance that you might vote FOR hillary. i say go for it. it's as much a wasted vote as a nader vote.

there is no way in our lifetime that we'll see a black president or a woman president. i have no problem with a black president, but i can't say that i ever really want to see a woman president. i do know that if hillary is president, i'm calling up jeremiah and moving to mexico. also, if i find out you're responsible for it, you will no longer be on my links page.

i love, LOVE the dixie chicks.
si, you should really watch their documentary "shut up and sing" - really, its enlightening.
sorry about the video not working, i almost deleted the post because of it- but i thought it too important! anyway, i put a link in- not as good as having it right at your fingertips, but close enough. so please go to the link- even though you hate hillary, you will laugh at this skit. its genius really.
oh and si, after last night, you might want to know that i know a good realtor in cabo... her name is Shelley- but she is a woman. hee hee.

Ok, 2 questions...

1. What are Hillary's past accomplishments which qualify her to be president? and

2. What is her current agenda, and how will she accomplish it should she become president?

At this point, I may just do a write in and vote for Jesus. :)

i like a nice deleted comment- what happened there? anyway, linda, i must admit i feel a bit nervous about you reading/seeing that video- but i guess your're a big girl and you wouldn't have watched it if you didn't think you could handle it- i really hope you weren't offended...
so anyway. i can't write an essay here, but i will say one thing that has turned me over to this side- jim cramer (mad money) guy- basically a genius was asked who the best/most qualified canidate was to turn the economy around- he said "hands down hillary clinton." i really trust and respect this guy, and in all honesty this economy is a really big deal/issue for me this election. so there's one biggie.. i know it doesn't totally answer your question, but i hope that helps linda.

You don't know me, but I saw your blog through Kelly Meirick's blog. Anyways, I loved the SNL Tina Fey night as well...very funny. But I do have to say that The Office is more of a comedic classic than 30 rock. Some people think Obama is the anti-christ..so I have heard....so you might be onto something. At least get him a pillow, right?

in case you were wondering who deleted the last comment, it was me(drea). i know how much you LOVE a in your words a "good ol" deleted comment, so i thought i'd be a good friend and spill my thoughts on hillary and bill and then just press that little trash can icon...just cuz. we'll have to talk politics in private. has carter read this post??

love you brave and controversial friend!

The only fun things to talk about are the ones that bring heat- religion, politics, and money--- I love it all! Anyways back to the blog...
Call me old fashioned BUT I'd appreciate a president as someone I can look up, have my children look up to & generally just admire. No one is perfect but she's got some real negatives-(for brevity sake I won't go into her views). Also, it's not the B--- in people that gets things done it's intelligence, mixed with conviction & then confidently leading (which may come across yucky to some). She's played so dirty, maybe the dirtiest I've seen. Okay so I haven't seen many, since we've been in a monarchy basically since I've been alive. I'd love to hear more from you as I love your thoughts & insight. Miss you and the fam! We're itching for a SLO/OSOS visit. When things calm down over here, we'll plan something.

Ok, I fess up... the deleted comment was mine, but only because I accidentally posted twice and didn't want to look like a idiot! :) Anyway, I was not offended... I'll be really philosophical and say that I think cultural references are a thermometer or indicator of the pulse of society. I think what would offend me, however, would be if you voted for Hillary simply from an economic perspective without also looking into what her potential presidency would cost our nation ethically, morally, monetarily, etc. I know you'll do your homework... :) Looking forward to see what you come up with. I personally think we need more "cowbell" in the White House.

allright peeps...
linda- i'd love to answer these very broad questions- (ie past accomplishments) but really its a long answer, and most people that are running for president (ie made it this far) are pretty qualified..
you should check her website for more on past.
and as for the economic comment- that was just a slice. one thing that draws me to hillary is the fact that she is a wife and a mother. her work for social justice, foster kids, teen pregnancy, and the over all nucleus of family is unparallel to any other running candidate. her stance on immigration i concur with, and her healthcare reform def has some holes- but all in all i do believe (like all the canidates) that their heart is in the right place. those issues, in addition to the ecomony are very important to me. so, i know its short, but i hope it helps.
kell- it think the above essay answers some of your question. and i do agree that the president should be someone we can look up to, but also someone we can relate too. i can't relate to an oil rich, white texas bred man in the slightest (yet i confess he had my vote both terms). i can however, relate to and admire hillary for the aforementioned reasons (family). and i will agree that she has played dirty, and i don't like that one bit- yet i will disagree with saying that it being some of the dirtiest. so anyway, linda and kell- i hope that helps, but i really hope that you still want to be my friend- even with my deep dark secret!
love you guys... thanks for sharpening me.
